Mexico, center of origin of Theobroma cacao L., became net importer since 2000 with a negative trade balance of -18,684 t in 2011 (SIAP). Tabasco, historically producing 35,000 tons of fine-aroma cacao in the 1980s through the Union Nacional de Productores de Cacao (UNPC), now produces 18,275 tons in 2018 and 17,401 tons Jan-July 2024 on 34,225 ha, down from 18,613 tons on >40,000 ha in 2020 (SIAP). National production stagnates at 27,844-28,399 tons vs industrial demand of 130,000 tons, creating a deficit of ∼100,000 tons filled by imports. This paper introduces the Five Arrows Model, a socio-ecological succession framework to explain the experimental field use of southeast Mexico: Plan Chontalpa (91,000 ha drained, 1965-75) → Cacao Boom (1975-90) → Sugarcane Shift at Ingenio Santa Rosalia (12,248 ha, 56.5 t/ha vs 63.2 SE avg vs 65.1 national avg, expansion 9,038 to 12,248 ha 2006-2020) → Olmeca Refinery (projected $8B to $18-20B) → Tren Maya (projected $156B to $515B + $40.8B subsidy 2025, total >594B) → Sembrando Vida ($6,000/month for planting, not harvesting). We demonstrate that each transition substitutes Info (biodiversity, mycorrhizae, melipona pollination, fermentation knowledge, UNPC organization) for Heat (monoculture tonnage, concrete, subsidies). Using DataMexico 2024 (Secretaria de Economia), Cuenta Publica 2024, IMCO, COLPOS and SCIELO, we show Tren Maya requires 10,700% subsidy in 2024 ($29,912M cost vs $276M income) and 788% loss in 2025 (1.3M passengers, $541.8M income vs $4,810.3M cost, 1.1% recovery). Santa Rosalia yields below national average, vulnerability to Moniliophthora roreri (80% loss potential, 50% reduction Tabasco 35k to 18k tons) and sugarcane spittlebug (12k ha). Trade analysis: Mexico imports raw bean Ecuador $164M, Peru $51.4M, Colombia $30.4M, Dominican $26.1M, Ivory Coast $18.5M; cacao paste Ivory Coast $143M, Ecuador $30.4M; imports cacao preparations USA $335M (37% share), chocolate preparations USA 72% ($247M), small packs USA $384M; exports cacao preparations USA $760M, Germany $73.1M, Canada $54.9M. Chain: Tabasco farmer sells wet cacao $1.2/kg → coyote → Ecuador CCN-51 $2.8/kg → industrialized USA/EU → powder $12/kg → Sam's Club Mexico $15/kg. Value captured outside: 85%. Farmer keeps <5%. This is thermodynamic loss: we export Info (fine aroma genetics) and import Heat (powder). We propose falsifiable metric: Civilization = ∫(Info_silvestre / Heat_industrial)dt. When Info → 0, system collapses regardless of subsidy.
