Botanical names from the Badian manuscript

Most of the Aztec botanical names and even the illustrations lack scientific identification. The authors mentioned are not botanists nor did they use the services of a professional, since errors such as declaring that the cacalosuchitl (Plumeria) is a kind of Magnolia (Gates) and that the cacalosúchitl (Quararibea) is the cacao tree (Theobroma) as Dr. Emmart puts it, they are inexcusable in a botanist.
