Karakteristik Penampilan Bibit Kakao Berproduksi Tinggi

An experiment was conducted to characterize high yielding cacaoplant based on seedings morpological, physiological, and biochemical characters. The experiment was held on October 2005 until November 2006 in a nursery in Harapan Village, Country of Pondok Kelapa, District of Bengkulu Utara (15 m above sea level). The area has soil type Red Yellow Podsol and having yearly rainfall of 3500-4000 mm. The seedlings were grafts of Pa, clone (as the high yielding clone) and Sea (as low yielding clone). The observed characters icluded plant hight, leaf area, leaf length:width ratio, stem diameter, chlorophyl number, stomatal number, and nitrate reductase activity. The data were analyzed by using double-ways of T-test at 0.05. Result showed that plant hight, leaf area, stem diameter, stomatal number, and nitrate reductase activity can be use as the indices of cacao seedlings for high yielding plants, and can be used as selection criteria
