Actualidad en la evaluación de la sustentabilidad en fincas cacaoteras (Theobroma cacao L), en el Ecuador.

Sustainability comprises a dynamic and complex approach that seeks to achieve several objectives at the same time, to the extent that they encompass productive, ecological or environmental, social, cultural and economic aspects. The information was collected through the technique of analysis, synthesis and summary in order for the reader to know about the current situation in the evaluation of sustainability in cocoa farms (Theobroma cacao L) in Ecuador. Based on the above, it was determined that the current situation in the evaluation of sustainability in cocoa farms (Theobroma cacao L) in the producing provinces is composed of three dimensions or indicators: sociocultural sustainability, environmental sustainability and economic sustainability. The holistic analysis of different aspects of sustainability in the cocoa farms evaluated allows addressing their complexity and understanding the relevance of the results for the dimensions of sustainability analysis, reflecting the conditions in which cocoa farms are found. The analysis showed that the 13 cocoa farms evaluated in different production zones do not meet the sustainability indicators in Ecuador, due to the low index of social, economic and ecological indicators that exist in cocoa farms.
